Developers of the Language Of Dance in a partnership
We are movement and body energy analyst. We teach partnering through energy and physical connections. Creating efficiency of desired movement by means of energy, body isolation, and imagery. Through action reaction we create the motivation which is translated into desire which creates harmony within a partnership.
These concepts have taken years of research, development, and testing. We have applied these concepts to our own dancing and have since won numerous championships to include the
2007 UCWDC Showcase & Classic Master World Championships,
2008 UCWDC Showcase Master World Championship,
2008 UCWDC Classic Master Two Step.

VIRGINIANS ARE “BEST IN WORLD”
(Portsmouth VA) Sam & Denise Miller are “the best of the best”
on the planet, winning the 2007 World Championship of Country Dance. The
Millers topped an international field of Masters and professional dancers
at the fifteenth annual competition – “Worlds XV” –
in Nashville TN.
This is the second World Championship title for the Millers, the result
of a year’s worth of preparation and practice. At the same time
the Millers were maintaining their dance studio practice, traveling 45
weeks a year and mentoring a stable of new student dance competitors.
Sam & Denise Miller launched their professional dance career ten years
ago by winning the 1997 World Championship of Country Dance.
A Miller protégé – Chris Kent (Chesapeake VA) –
won two First Place titles, “ProAm Newcomer,” taking top honors
both in the ProAm open division (no age limit) and in the ProAm crystal
division (age 30-39) at the Nashville competition. Mr. Kent and his spouse,
Christine, are both Miller dance students.
The “Dancing Gomez Family” (Norfolk VA) – Dr. Robert
Gomez and Marge Gomez – won Second Place honors as a couple and
Dr. Gomez (Children’s Hospital, Norfolk) took Second Place in the
ProAm as well. A Gomez daughter also trains with Sam & Denise Miller.
The Millers are long-time Portsmouth residents and Virginia Beach-based
dance coaches at the DanceSport Virginia studio. Most week-ends find them
on the road from coast-to-coast at local and regional country dance events,
judging the amateur competitions, conducting workshops and coaching private
sessions with aspiring dancers.
Following the weekend dance events, the Millers frequently schedule Monday
stay-overs to teach Master Classes at local high schools before returning
to their Virginia Beach studio. The Governor’s School for Arts &
Technology in Richmond VA is on the Miller schedule for February 5, 2007,
for the second consecutive year after the kids gave them rave reviews
for the Millers’ first Master Class there last year. Midst their
intense preparations for the Worlds XV competition, the Millers made time
for Master Class presentations at high schools in Newport News, Virginia
Beach and Petersburg VA.
The Millers’ school presentations are without charge because Sam
& Denise believe dancing can help the next generation stay physically
fit – “Dancing is a fun way to get your 10,000 steps a day!”
The U.S. Health Department and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control warn
that childhood obesity and diabetes are increasing at an alarming rate.
“DanceSport is an activity every kid can participate in and it’s
a recreational skill good for a lifetime!” Sam & Denise also
believe that, while kids are learning dance skills and getting fit, they
are also acquiring interpersonal skills – “how to relate to
the other gender" – which could pay off with fewer divorces
among the next generation. Conclude Sam & Denise Miller – “We
like to think we’re making a contribution to a better world, one
dancer at a time!”
The Millers use their talents to support charities, too. In March they
will be the featured dancers in a showcase performance to benefit the
General College of Nursing & Health Sciences, Lancaster PA, in support
of healthcare education in the community. |
